The story becomes more interesting when the two boys from the inner city meet up with the inner city girl because they begin to teach her some new dance moves to help her to pursue her dream to go to Julliard. With her father she has a less than perfect home life and with school she experiences a new world of dance, music, and culture. She quickly notices the differences in her new life and old life from her home to the school. Because of this loss she is forced to leave her life in the suburbs and move to the inner city with her father. Meanwhile, a girl from the suburbs, who is a lover of dance, experiences a great loss in her life.
The boys get into some trouble after a dance battle goes wrong and they are left without the dance money that they thought they would win. The story begins with two inner city boys that have a brotherly type of friendship.
